Make your own magic shell for all those banana pops you will be eating this summer.
Magic Shell
1 1/4 cups dark chocolate or semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup coconut oil
Pop in the microwave for about a minute and stir together well.
Done.
This will harden as soon as it hits frozen bananas or say some homemade vanilla ice cream.

Oh yum! I hadn't thought of using coconut oil for those, we buy the stuff by the gallon! Mmmm.... I think I'll make up some of these this week! Thanks!
Are there any substitutions for the coconut oil?
My daughter is aniphylactic allergic to it.
These look so good! I will have to try them. Thanks!

I am so happy to find this receipe. My kids and I make banana pops all the time for our neighbors and have always used our freezer to freeze the chocholate, which takes up a lot of room. Plus they melt quick. Thaks for this receipe, I am so excited to try this.
So excited to try this!
This may seem like a dumb question, but how could you store this for later use? TIA
BOOKMARKED!
You rock!
Love your blog...

I love making chocolate covered bananas. I will have to try coconut oil with it. One thing I love to add to the chocolate chips is peanut butter it makes the best banana pops. Or have you ever tried dipping bananas in peanut butter and freezing them.
I made this recipe last night and put it on top of ice cream, everybody loved it! Everyone (including me) was fascinated that we could just leave it sitting out overnight and it wouldn't harden, but when we put it on ice cream it instantly formed a 'magic shell'! Thanks for the recipe!
These look so YUMMY!!!
The recipe I use calls for more coconut oil, I will have to try yours, it would be cheaper. We really like it on our ice cream (haven't tried frozen bananas yet.
So much yummier than the ones at the store! I put mine over ice cream. My kids were very excited.
